We’ve just helped to launch an SEO question and answer site based on the Stack Overflow platform. If you know about Search and SEO and want to help others, know a little and would like to know more, or have an SEO question, this is the site for you.
We’re very impressed with the Stack Overflow platform. The site was up and running in no time at all, and is currently under a free trial on their beta platform.

We’ve just rolled out the first version of our new web site. It’s a very similar design to our previous one, but we feel it’s a vast improvement, offering a more professional feel with a little more polish.
As you may be able to tell, looking around the site, it is still a work in progress. There’ll be several tweaks coming out over the next week or so. Some areas we’re still working on are the home page and the blog listing page. We’ll also be adding in more imagery over the next few days, it won’t always be just text!
As a part of this change, we’ve switched entirely over to Wordpress for the site. Previously we ran a bit of a dirty hybrid between custom PHP and Wordpress that prevented us from using a number of plugins.We’re now running Platinum SEO, XML-Sitemap, Twitter Tools and Gravity Forms, amongst others. Thank you to the authors of all of them.

We wanted to set up a place to talk about Leeds, what’s going on in the city, talk about Leeds news, and generally have a good chat with other people from Leeds.

We’ve been working on a network of sites over the past few months as an experiment in running affiliate sites. The network is a group of hotel sites, for Blackpool, Bristol, Durham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, and York.
They’ve been great fun to set up, and a good learning experience all round. As you’ll see if you look at the links above, they’re all using the exact same design… but what’s less obvious is that they’re also running not only the exact same code, but from the same installation of the same code, in the same database.
This gives us the flexibility to set up new network sites with very rapid (under half an hour) turnaround, but also the simplicity of making a change in one place that affects all the sites simultaneously. Improve one, improve them all.

Over the past few months, we’ve noticed that we’re struggling to compete in search listings for our own name. This is partly due to being so small, but also because we’re competing against Antec and their ‘Veris Media Centre’ product. Obviously, if you can’t show up for your own name, you’re in trouble!
As a result of this, we’re trialling running the site under our verismedia.co.uk domain name, to see if this has an impact on our positioning. Our old domain, veris.co.uk, will still work, but our primary domain has been switched over. We’ve considered changing name, but we’ll save that for plan C.

Anoveta, a Leeds based web development company, approached us to redesign their web site for them.
Anoveta felt that their previous web site was too simple, too bright, and generally unprofessional. We were asked to review and redesign the site as something that felt more corporate, but still friendly.
Additionally, we were asked to choose new brand colours for Anoveta, to replace their previous bright green, blue and pink. The result was the site featured in the screenshots on this page. A much cleaner and stronger design.
